Set-up self-administered Telraam devices

What is a 'self-administered' installation?

With a self-administered installation we mean that the network administrator wants to install the devices in their network themselves with their own accounts and make these their "own" network.

Please note you need a unique (separate) account for every Telraam installation you do. You can not install more than one Telraam device with the same account. This is a guide on how to work around the "1 installation = 1 account" rule.

The normal procedure is to work together with citizens and therefore to use the candidate process and recruitment form (for more background see also "Preparing for candidate recruitment: essential steps and tips)

If, however, you wish to work differently and install the devices without the participation of citizens and to retain control of the accounts, we advise that you follow the procedure described below:

Operating Procedure

Step 1 - Create a list of (alias) e-mail addresses (on a computer at home/office)

Step 2 - Create a unique Telraam account with each of these email addresses (on a computer at home/office)

  • Navigate to https://telraam.net/en/register and fill in credentials.

  • Select the right network in the dropdown list. This way the account is immediately added to your network. If you do not select the network right away, you can also add users later on to your network, see "Direct user invitation: an alternative to the candidate form"

  • NB: Remember to log OUT before creating the next account. Alternatively, use an incognito/private browser tab so as to avoid keeping these different login credentials in the cache.

Step 3 - Install the Telraam device in the field (at the location)

  • Plug in the device

  • Scan the QR-code with mobile device (phone)

  • Login with one the accounts you've created (keep a note which location this is)

  • Complete the device installation at location

Step 4 - Set ROI and check installations (on computer at home/office)

  • Set the ROI for the Telraam devices

  • Check the functioning of the Telraam devices

Conclusion

Every Telraam network has a number of devices 'belonging' to their network. With the procedure described above, you can install the device yourself with different accounts. In case you do have questions during the installation(s), please contact your account manager or support@telraam.net.
