At the end of the installation on my.telraam.net, I do not receive confirmation of my connection to the Wi-Fi

Purpose of this article

At the end of the installation process on my.telraam.net, I am not getting confirmation of my Wi-Fi connection.

Step 1 - Re-check your Wi-Fi details

The most occurring reason is that the Wi-Fi data you entered during installation is incorrect. This occurs most often when there is a problem of connection. Beware: a simple typo in the Wi-Fi password can be enough to cause the installation to fail.

1️⃣    Reconnect to the Telraam device and enter your WiFi password again. Follow the steps: (Re-)Connect your Telraam device to the internet

Step 2 - Check if your WiFi meets the requirements

The Telraam will only be able to connect to certain WiFi networks. It must meet certain requirements: "Wifi environment requirements for Telraam"

Network compatible for Telraam:

- Netwerk with 2.4 GHz wifi band *
- WPA2 security protocol
- with PSK (pre shared key = password)

Network incompatible for Telraam:

- Network with 5.0 GHz wifi band *
- open networks (networks without security)
- networks that require logging in with a landing page
- mesh networks
- eap networks like TelenetWifree or Proximus Public Wi-Fi (both examples in Belgium)
- ...

* Most modems transmit both frequency bands, then you can manually choose for each device whether you want it on the 2.4 GHz or 5.0 GHz network.

You may have an Internet modem that shows only one network name (=Service Set IDentifier=SSID). This 'smart' modem chooses for you on which frequency (2.4 or 5.0 GHz) it connects the devices, but does not know that Telraam does not work properly on 5.0 GHz. If you want your Telraam to work stably, you will have to disable this 'smart' feature and so you can manually select the 2.4 GHz network when connecting your Telraam to the Internet.

Step 3 - Complete the installation and check the message on your dashboard

In a few rare cases, the system may send an error message even if the installation went perfectly. To check if this is the case, complete your installation and check the message on your dashboard:

2️⃣    Complete your installation

3️⃣    Open your dashboard

4️⃣    Which message do you see?

Telraam-is-counting.png

This message means your Telraam is counting, so this is good.

Telraam-is-not-counting-yet.png

This message means your Telraam is not couting. If you were able to establish the WiFi connection and data are still not coming throug, you can follow the steps in these article: "No data is coming from my Telraam yet".
